The Governing Body of the College fulfils statutory obligations with regard to the National Curriculum and its assessment, the special educational needs of students, sex education and ensuring a daily act of collective worship for all students. Governors are involved in the approval of College policies, we monitor the effectiveness of College initiatives and provide a challenge to the Headteacher.

The full Governing Body meets 3 times a year following the meetings of the sub committees. The five sub committees that report to this meeting are:

  • Policy and Finance
  • Curriculum
  • Every Child Matters
  • Personnel
  • Premises
Governors take an active role in the life of the College. Termly visits are arranged where they can see the day to day work of the College, but most Governors visit more frequently. The Chairs of the sub committees will additionally meet regularly with the appropriate College staff to review financial and premises issues as they arise. Governors at Southfields are very much a part of the College community.

If you are interested in supporting the work of the College by becoming a governor please fill in the form below. We will be in touch as soon as possible.
