What do I do if my child has lost something whilst at school?
"First Re-trace your steps!" Is your son/daughter sure that the item is lost? Or perhaps it was left in a classroom. Ask the teacher of a classroom to see if it was left behind. Then ask at the staffroom because lost property is handed in there.
Will my child still be able to get food if they have lost their cashless dining system card? Yes, if your child has lost their card while at school they must go to the General Office and report it lost to Ms Mohamed, Ms Collins or Ms Wilson, the original card will immediately be cancelled so that if another student tries to use it it will be retained by the canteen. A temporary number will be issued to the child to enable them to purchase food. The students are told to return in a few days to see if the card has been found. If it has then the card will be re-issued to the child, if not then the child must pay £1.50 to purchase a new card.
Who do I speak to about my child's health or allergies? On joining the Academy you must inform us of any ongoing health issues that your child has. If any develop during your child's time at the Academy then you must inform your child's Form Tutor. If your child has serious allergies then the Academy must be made aware of this and the First Aid Officer will make sure that all staff are made aware of your child's needs and the procedures that they must follow in the event of an emergency. Your child will be issued with a "Medi-Card" which they can show to any member of staff who will then inform the Duty First Aid Officer. If your child has any prescribed medications that they will need during the school day then these must be given to Ms Wilson in the General Office for safe-keeping, along with written instructions and dosage.
Who should I speak to if I am worried about my child? Please contact your son/daughter’s Form Tutor in the first instance. The Form Tutor will see the members of the Form twice a day and will monitor and support pupils. Form Tutors will share any anxieties or possible concerns with your child’s Year Manager.
Who should I contact if I have a question about a particular subject? Again please contact your son/daughter’s Form Tutor in the first instance. He/she will then contact the Head of Department who will in turn contact you.
