ITT (School Direct Salaried) This course is run by Southfields teaching school SCITT (School Centered ITT). Southfields Academy is an accredited body and provides all the training and awards QTS to successful candidates. Places are available only for high priority (Physics, Chemistry, Maths and MFL) and other priority subjects (English, Geography, History, Computer Science, Music and Biology). Trainees must have a good honours degree but also have three or more years' experience of working life and are career changers. Partner schools are fully involved in selection and employ the trainees as unqualified teachers. trainees are based in their employing school for most of their school experience placement but will have a 2nd school experience to compliment this in their 2nd term. As with other School Direct routes there is an 'intention' to employ trainees on successful completion of the course. both the generic and the subject specific training is delivered by the Southfields Academy SCITT in partnership with the employing school
ITT (School Direct Fee-Paying) This course is run in conjunction with one of our partner universities (Goldmsiths, St Mary's University, Royal Academy of Dance or the Institute of Education). Trainees are selected by the partner school and university together and are based in a school with the 'intention' of employment following successful completion of the course. All applicants will have a good honours degree normally 2:1 or better. All subjects are offered including primary placements. Like other PGCE routes there will be one autumn and a spring/summer placement in one of our alliance schools. Some of the generic training will be delivered partly by Southfields Academy and some at our partner schools. Subject specific training will be delivered through the university. |

Southfields has designed its own Middle Leader and System Leader courses (in conjunction with LCYP). Our current thinking with these programmes is as well as running the courses we are keen to spread this opportunity across the system by training people to deliver their own programmes through quality facilitator training. We also plan to start our next MDLP soon. A new Systems Leader course will also start soon. |
