Year 11 Public Examinations and Overlay (Revision Session) Timetable

Dear Parent / Carer

Re: Year 11 Examinations

We have now entered the final examination period for Year 11 students. This means that more and more lessons will be disrupted as courses come to an end and students begin to sit examinations.

Below is a general guide to the examinations. It shows when Year 11 students should be in examinations instead of lessons. However, please note, this is just a general guide and not all students sit the same examinations. Your son/daughter must use their individual statement of entry (these were distributed via Form tutors week of the 22nd April) to ensure that he/she is attending his/her examination at the right time.

All morning examinations start at 08:30 am and afternoon examinations start at 13:00 pm. Please ensure a prompt arrival.

If a student arrives late to an examination the school may not permit entry and the examination board will also be informed of the lateness. The examination board is unlikely to award the qualification to the student unless there is a formal medical certificate to explain lateness, and then the examination board is still not bound to award the qualification.

In short - Students must be on time, and therefore we advise that students always aim to be here 30 minutes in advance of their examination to line up.

End of Courses:
All normal timetabled Year 11 lessons will end on Friday 17th May.

Examinations and Revisions Sessions
From Monday 20th May the normal Year 11 timetable will be cancelled. A new timetable of lessons will be in place. The exams summary and new timetable are below, please fo through this and the Statement of Entry with your son/daughter to see when they need to come into school. If a student is unsure whether they need to attend a revision session they should speak to their subject teachers as soon as possible.
If a revision session for one subject is running at the same time as an examination for another subject that they sit then the students must attend the examination.

Thursday 16th May is INSET day and Friday 7th June is IEAP day for the rest of the school. But some Year 11 students will need to come in for some examinations or revisions sessions (as indicated on the attached plan).

A copy of the examination rules and code of conduct are available by clicking here. Please go through these regulations carefully with your son/daughter in order to ensure they optimise their chances tof the best possible outcomes during the examinations.

A reminder that the Year 11 NRA celebrations take place on Thursday 27th June. Details will be issued in advance of this date.

GCSE results will be available for collection from the school on Thursday 22nd August between 9.00am and 11.00am.

Sixth Form interviews will also take place on Thursday 22nd August from 9.00am until 1.00pm. Ms Floyd and Ms Harry will issue further details nearer the time.

I hope that your son/daughter works hard in his/her final preparations for the GCSE examinations and is rewarded with success on results day.

We wish our students all the best and look forward to the celebrations.

Yours Faithfully,

Ms T. Gray
Deputy Headteacher - Curriculum & Standards.
